Honor Flight to Washington 2012

From Victor Sierra to Razz and the other friendly interested to colorized the G.55 Yellow Five’s picture just posted (Italian Forces, Yellow Five): the “modern” G.55 Yellow Five of the Italian Air Force Museum. The aircraft was perfectly rebuilt from an airframe of a Fiat G.59 (in practice the G.55’s airframe with Rolls-Royce Merlin engine) on 1996-1997 on request of the Lieut. Gen. Mario Arpino, at this time chief of staff Italian Air Force, incidentally nephew of a ANR’s pilot, and showed in public for the first time during a great air show at Pratica di Mare on 1998 (base of Italian Air Force’s Flight Test Center). The “modern” Yellow Five

Yak-3 fighter flown by Lieutenant Roger Marchi, Normandie-Niemen Regiment, Free French Air Arm, with that formation in the Soviet Union.  Lt. Marchi was credited with four full victories and two shared "kills".  This example is preserved at the Museum of the Air and Space, Le Bourget, Paris.  Note the common "Normandie-Niemen" livery; Soviet Red Stars, "lightening flash" on the side; French tricolour colours on the nose cone.  Best regards, JR.
