Three Polish and two Hungarian soldiers are present at the moment the Hungarian flag is planted at the newly established frontier.  The common frontiers had some strategic importance, but even more so a psychological one. In any case, around 140,000 Polish refugees were able to cross over to Hungary in the fall of 1939.

During a spring snowfall in the Carpathian Mountains, Polish and Hungarian officers celebrate a common frontier established during March, 1939. On our left is Hungarian general Bildy and the location is Verecke, a famous mountain pass between the two friendly countries.

With the Hungarian recovery of Karpatalja (Ruthenia), two direct railroad lines were reestablished between Poland and Hungary. Here the arrival of a Hungarian train in a border town brings together Polish and Magyar officers, greeting one another at the station.
