Hungarian Forces
Regent Horthy and his military staff considered the defense of Budapest suicidal for the grand city on the Danube. After his overthrow in October, 1944, the new Arrow-Cross regime of Szalasi agreed with Hitler's firm demand for the defense of the Hungarian capital. Here a Hungarian Honved unit is in the process of building the Attila defense line, probably in late October or early November of 1944.
