1st Lt. Boday-Csiszar Tibor, Royal Hungarian Army (Magyar Kiralyi Honvedseg) shown here somewhere on the Eastern Front. According to eyewitnesses, he was killed by a burst from a Russian submachine gun on February 1944, when he refused to surrender... He chose a hero's death over captivity in a Soviet labor camp for POWs. May he R.I.P. along with many other brave men.

On the Russian Front

Regent Horthy and his military staff considered the defense of Budapest suicidal for the grand city on the Danube. After his overthrow in October, 1944, the new Arrow-Cross regime of Szalasi agreed with Hitler's firm demand for the defense of the Hungarian capital. Here a Hungarian Honved unit is in the process of building the Attila defense line, probably in late October or early November of 1944.
