Eleven-times world champion Willi Bogner of Germany takes the Olympic Oath.  After a spell in a PoW camp after the war, Willi restarted his sports clothing business with great success.  His son, Willi Jr, was also an international ski champion.  JR.

1936 Winter Olympics - back on message.

As with the subsequent Summer Olympics, a considerable effort was made to tone down (if possible out) images of Nazi Germany that might not go down so well with the outside world.  However, the regime still, clearly, had lessons to learn on the art of cover-up.  This official signboard - self-explanatory - was snapped by a British news photographer.
