A No. 37 Squadron Royal Air Force Wellington Mk. X waiting to take off at Tortorella, Southern Italy, holds while a 99th Bombardment Group US Army Air Force B-17 Flying Fortress comes in to land, 1944. The No. 37 was one of the two Squadrons, the other was No. 70, of the RAF’s 231 Wing equipped with Vickers Wellington bombers and based at Tortorella (also known as Foggia No. 2) from winter 1943-1944. Tortorella Airfield, one of Foggia Airfield Complex, was also base of 99th Bombardment Group, US 15th Air Force, equipped with B-17s. Victor Sierra
