Belgium, Late 1944 - Early 1945

An image of the Normandy Hedgerows - Hedgerows such as these proved a shock to the Allied soldier.  Completely untrained as to how to overcome such obstacles and having many within their ranks completely new too combat, - the Allies suffered terrible losses in this terrain that greatly favored the German defender. 

Normandy June 10, 1944

Coast Guard Flotilla 10 tied up along with British landing craft, preparing to sail the English Channel and invade Nazi-occupied France. These landing craft landed U.S. troops on Omaha Beach.
