Accomplice perhaps also a runway transformed into a bog, with mud and pool, by an Autumn storm, the taxing of this Storch commandeered by American forces ended in a spectacular ground loop on Amendola Airfield, Apulia, Southern Italy, October 1943. The Amendola Airfield conditions of this time were well different from those of modern Amendola Military Airport, today base of Italian Air Force’s fighter-bombers AMX and UAV Predator.
