Crew of a famous Pershing tank

The crew of an M26 Pershing tank (named Eagle 7) of the US 3rd Armored Division. The gunner, Pennsylvania native Clarence Smoyer, in the center, no helmet, knocked out a German "Panther" tank (Pz.Kpfw. V) during the famous battle at the Cologne Cathedral. For his success and bravery, he was awarded the Bronze Star; Cologne, Germany, March, 1945.
