A tank destroyer of the 601st Tank Destroyer Battalion with its 3-inch gun moves through Ostheim (France) which was entered from the north at 0400 Jan. 23, 1944 by the 1st Battalion of the 7th Regiment (3rd Inf. Div.) commanded by Maj. Kenneth W. Wallace. The small-arms and machine-gun battle for Ostheim lasted five hours.
