The Reich Chancellery was for the most part a venue for state functions and, simply, as an architectural emblem of Nazi power.  Like most of Speer's work on behalf of the National Socialists, the Reich Chancellery was totally demolished in the aftermath of the war.  Best regards, JR.

Soviet machine-gunners run past a burning building, Berlin, 1945.  The actual battle may have passed on, at least a little, at this stage.  Alternatively, it would not have been beyond a Red Army propaganda unit to have staged these episode(s) after the battle was over, simply by ordering the burning of a surviving building.  JR.
