Tail of one of 42 Curtiss Tomahawk Mk. IIBs delivered from the RAF’s stocks in Middle East to the Türk Hava Kuvvetleri, Turkish Air Force, on 1942. This aircraft was deployed at Gaziemir, a base of the Ikinci Hava Tumeni (2nd Air Division), HQ Izmir, with two Aircraft Squadrons. The Turkish Air Force received also 24 Kittyhawk I leased to Turkey under the “Lend-Lease Agreement” an deployed at Izmir-Gaziemir by the 3. Tayyare Bolugu (3rd Aircraft Squadron) and 4.
