This is the ammo-drum I mentioned a few days ago in my comment on the Belgian SAS photo. This one is a French drum for the Reibel machinegun, produced by MAS(Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Etienne in France). It was recovered from the bottom of the Dyle river in central Belgium in 1940.The father(a young boy in 1940) of a friend saw retreating troops dumping ammo and gear in the water. Some time later he and some friends dove in the water to retreave things. 65 years later when his father died my friend gave me the drum knowing I'm a collector of WW1 and WW2 items.I think it contains around 150 bullits. One of the vehicle using this machinegun was the French Panhard Armored car.Greetz, brummbar
