Infra-Red tank sight used by Germans

IR model 1221. Any information on the following markings that were found on the crate that housed this unit: "SS Lena Lach(k)enbach, Cronin associates of Menlo Park, California, and/or Dr. W. C. Driscoll of Framingham Center, Massachusetts" to help confirm its history, would be appreciated. Replies here, or at airhog2007(.)yahoo.com Uploader is trying to discover how it came into his possession, other than legacy. Theory is that it may have been co-opted from the Reich thru intelligence channels for research purposes. Not clear on what the Allies had at that time in terms of infra-red/ night vision capabilities. Mostly, though, the information would add to the story/history of the unit.
