Italian Forces
Color photo of two Italian Regia Aeronautica’s biplane fighter Fiat CR.42s taxiing likely on a Sicilian airport, 1941. The airplane in foreground is a CR.42 black-painted like the CR.42CN (Caccia Notturna), the night-fighter version of Fiat biplane, but without the long exausts with flame protection pipes under the fuselage typical of CR.42CN and without the floodlights under the wings. It may be a CN returned at the original role of “normal” fighter. Instead the plane in background has the camouflage of “day aircrafts”. Victor Sierra
