Italian Forces
Some of Italian bombers sended in Spain by Italian Government in 1936 to provide support to Francisco Franco's Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War lined up at Madrid to celebrate the end of war and Nationalist's victory, Avril 1, 1939. Note SM.79s and, in foreground, a Fiat BR.20 "Cicogna" with first letter ("M") of Benito Mussolini's signature on the fuselage. Apart from 55 Savoia-Marchetti SM.81 "Pipistrello", the Italian bombers sended to Aviación Legionaria (the Regia Aeronautica's expeditionary corps in Spain) were 99 Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 "Sparviero" and 16 Fiat BR.20 "Cicogna".
