As in most countries, women were called upon to support the front, in this case by knitting and sewing. Many responded dutifully, but the long distances and the troubled supply system often prevented the clothing's  arrival to  the troops.

As the Axis withdrawal continued, the planes of the RHAF dwindled down in number more and more, and when production of these German-designed planes was increased in the Hungarian city of Gyor, fuel shortages often caused additional problems. Here two  ME-109 fighters, with Hungarian tail colors, are shown on the Eastern front, during the winter of 1943-1944.
