The Hungarians marched into Transylvania

Memoirs starkly describe the incredible horror of the Russian roads leading back from the collapsed Don front. In temperatures dipping into 30-40 degrees below, the freezing,  hungry, worn out, and wounded Hungarian and other Axis soldiers collapsed by the roadside, and froze to death in minutes, as shown in the photo above, in January, 1943.

Assigned to individual soldiers, as shown in the field above, it was used in ground combat against enemy armor mainly in the defense of Budapest during late 1944 and early 1945.
