This is a picture of my Father Selmer Kalen on the left and his brother Sylvester Kalen who was in the Army. 

Brothers in Arms

Eisenhower called him "the man who won the war for us". Hitler called him "the new Noah". They were both referring to the hard-charging, tough-talking boat designer from New Orleans, Louisiana, whose innovative flat-bottomed landing craft cleared the way for the amphibious landings at Normandy and other beach-heads during World War II: Andrew J. Higgins (1886-1952)  - on the right.
