Late (1945) 'photo of a Panzerschreck 54 in firing position. This clearly shows the removable side-mounting of the blast shield, and the swinging tab that formed part of the mechanism allowing the removal of the mica aiming window for cleaning. The latter feature was important, as it proved difficult in practice to clean the window in situ, and the window was prone to become obscured by the filth, propellant gases and so on contained in the backblast, requiring regular cleaning. Best regards, JR.
