A nice "front" photo, probably a propaganda image. The light machinegun is the MG34, and that's probably an NCO with the binoculars. I try to stay away from posting more German photos -- this site has a distinct list in that direction -- but this one has some drama that I liked. Given the building's look and the landscape, I'm guessing this was from the eastern front, maybe early war, but I don't know. The photo was posted on another forum as an expired e-bay offering.

A german senior Gebirgsjäger (mountain trooper), cognizable by the 'Edelweiss' badge on the right sleeve. The soldier is decorated with the Iron Cross 1st class and the Infantry Assault Badge.
