Knight's Cross awarded on 25.01.1945, furthermore he was awarded the close combat clasp in bronze, one tank destroyer badge and wounded badge in gold.

Waffen-Hauptsturmführer der SS MIERVALDIS ADAMSONS (*29.06.1910 Poltawa/Russia; +23.08.1946 executed in the nickel mines of Murmansk/Russia). Latvian volunteer of the 19. Waffen-Grenadierdivision der SS (lettische Nr. 2), Knight Cross awarded on 25.01.1945, holder of the close combat clasp in bronze and many other decorations. Fighter for an independant Latvia, executed by the Soviets due to repeated escape attempts.

Miervaldis Adamsons, Latvian volunteer

Waffen-Standartenführer der SS KARLIS APERATS (*04.03.1892 in Riga/Latvia; + 16.07.1944 KIA near Mosuli/northeast Russia). Knight's Cross posthumously awarded on 21.09.1944. Commander of the Waffen-Grenadier-Regiment der SS 32 (latvian No. 1). In WW1 he actually fought against German troops being part of the Russian czaristic army. Still today every year on July 16th his former comrades drop a floral wreath at the very spot on the Ssinaja bridge where their former commander ordered them to leave him heavy wounded to save themselves.
