In 1940 Leutnant Franz von Werra was Adjutant of 11./JG 3. He is seen here with the Gruppe mascot 'SIMBA'. Von Werra was later shot down and captured by the British. His spectacular escape thru Canada and the United States became known worldwide, and following the war was the subject of a film with Hardy Kruger. (scanned by HOS Bandit)
