His Flak 88 accounted for 42 destroyed enemy tanks in 1942.On the 3rd November 1942 Kesserling &quot;placed the Knight's Cross around his neck&quot; in Rome.Served with his flak unit for the rest of the war,promoted to Unteroffizer in 1943.

Gürke also distinguished himself in the Flak Front of 27th May 1942,his battalion destroying 40 enemy tanks in four days.Awarded RK 3rd November 1942. Died in Soviet captivity 1946
