Gürke also distinguished himself in the Flak Front of 27th May 1942,his battalion destroying 40 enemy tanks in four days.Awarded RK 3rd November 1942. Died in Soviet captivity 1946

Considered &quot;one of the best gunners in the battalion&quot;.Participated in Wolz's Flak Front,27th May 1942.Said to have knocked out 20 of the 24 enemy tanks destroyed in that engagement.Evacuated from Africa due to wounds,becoming gunnery instructor.Not awarded RK until 11th June 1944 &quot;after further enquires&quot; on his actions under Wolz.

Another view of the Messerschmitt Me 210A 2N+LT after the crash. The status of the propellers blades seem indicate engines not running (engine failure?). Probably the aircraft has experienced a runway excursion hitting the anti-blast pen. Note the sand-bags scattered all over the place and over the aircraft’s wing. Victor Sierra
