Finnish panzerschreck team in position. 

During the war, Finland bought 1854 of these from Germany. The Panzerschrecks along with Panzerfausts, helped Finns to achieve the defense victories during the summer of 1944. As Finland was outnumbered in armoured troops, and before the StuG's arrived the Finnish armoured division only had obsolete captured light tanks and a few captured T-34's and a couple of KV 1 tanks.

Finland bought 59 of these from Germany, in 1943-1944. 
29 of them arrived soon enough to be used in the heavy defense battles of Karelian Isthmus, during the summer of 1944(because of lack of spare parts one of them had to be put to pieces and used as spare parts). The assault gun battalion destroyed 87 enemy tanks, losing 8 of the StuG's (from which some were blown up by their crew after being immobilized).

The StuG's remained in Finnish army service untill 1966.

StuG III Ausf. G

Eero Seppänen (1924–2004) Knight of the Mannerheim Cross #138. Because of his young age, Seppänen didn't get to the front untill 1943, when the war was stationary and no major battles occurred. But on June 9, 1944, Soviets started a major offensive and broke through, and after the general retreat to VKT- Line Pvt. Seppänen was given a brief training for panzerschreck and then his unit participated in the Battle of Siiranmäki. There he alone destroyed 6 enemy tanks during the night of June 14-15 and was slightly wounded but kept fighting and during the following 2 days he destroyed 2 more tanks.

For these actions he was awarded the Mannerheim Cross, on July 4, 1944, and Eero Seppänen became one of the youngest Knight of the Mannerheim Cross.
