242 pilots clowning for the cameras - making fun of some prominent Nazis I believe -
Capt. Odd Bull (Norwegian), Bob Grassick (L-pointing), Douglas Bader (seated) & Turner as Napoleon.  242 "All Canadian" squadron originated as an "All Canadian" squadron in the RAF but as casualties grew, the dead were often replaced with British pilots and Douglas Bader was appointed S/L on the squadrons return from France.

Two Calgary Highlanders stand by the banks of the Bow River, Calgary, before departing for the war.  They are humourously depicting Canada's equipment shortages at the beginning of the war... too many volunteers, not enough uniforms!
