Buffalo Mark I, AS426, at the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment, Boscombe Down, Wiltshire. This aircraft was one of 33 ex-Belgian Model 339Bs purchased by the British Government, following the fall of Belgium. A few examples served briefly with No. 71 Squadron RAF, but all were eventually transferred to the Fleet Air Arm.

Low-level oblique aerial taken during a dusk attack on the railway workshops at Namur, Belgium, by De Havilland Mosquito B Mark IVs of No. 105 Squadron RAF. DZ519 'GB-U', flown by Pilot Officer R Massie (pilot) and Sergeant G Lister (navigator), flys over the target with bomb doors open and bombs falling, just after successfully striking the roof of the carriage and wagon repair shops (top right). They are illuminated by the flash of bombs exploding on the railway sidings, dropped by the preceeding aircraft, DZ458 'GB-J', flown by Squadron Leader R W Reynolds (pilot) and Pilot Officer E B Sismore (navigator), from which this photograph was taken.

Bombs away

British assault troops landed on Walcheren at dawn on 1st November 1944 and most of Flushing was included in the first bridgehead. The landings were supported by fire from British warships. The object of the assault is to silence the enemy guns menacing the Scheldt passage to the port of Antwerp. This particular image shows some of the first prisoners captured after the landing.
