A Vickers Wellington DWI (Directional Wireless Installation) aircraft of No. 1 General Reconnaissance Unit, flying South-West over the harbor at Tripoli, during a mine-clearance operation soon after the occupation of the town by the Allies on 23 January 1943. This Caproni Ca.100 “Caproncino” (“Little Caproni”), fuselage code GA-2, former civil italian registration I-GUAS, is one of five planes of this types used by the Aero Club di Catania (Catania Flying Club), captured by the British Forces after the conquest of the Sicily and went: three to No. 112 Squadron RAF, one to No. 3 Squadron RAAF and one to No. 450 Squadron RAAF. In particular the GA-2 is one of three planes of No. 112 Squadron RAF which flown the “Caproncino” at Agnone, August-September 1943 and used for taking maintenance personnel on joy rides. Boeing Fortress Mark I, AN532. WP-J, of No. 90 Squadron RAF/220 Squadron RAF Detachment on the ground at Shallufa, Egypt. Following the Fortress's unsuccessful period of operations with 90 Squadron in the United Kingdom, four aircraft were detached to the Middle East in November 1941, for night bombing attacks on Benghazi and enemy shipping in the Mediterranean. On 1 December 1941, the Detachment was renamed No. 220 Squadron Detachment and AN532 was returned to the US Army Air Force shortly afterwards. Fortress Mark I was the service name of the twenty Boeing B-17C provided to RAF from the U.S. Army Air Corps in early 1940. Victor Sierra
