3-Ton Half-Tracked Ford (Australia) truck fitted with tracks from a Universal Carrier.  One of the many attempts to improve the movement of stores over mud roads or sand beaches.  Probably never put into production. Date unknown

Australian Half-Tracked Ford truck.

1941-06. Northern Palestine. The pass that winds from the plain of Esdraelon up to the heights of Nazareth. An Australian Ford Marmon-Herrington artillery tractor, model LP3 or LP3A, towing a trailer, ammunition No. 27 MKI and a 25 pounder gun. Note E9, a sub-unit tactical marking, painted on the driver's door of the truck. There are two similar trucks further down the winding road. (Negative by F. Hurley)

Australians at Nazareth

The Yeramba was an Australian self-propelled howitzer built after the end of the Second World War in the late-1940s. They were produced by mounting the 25 pounder gun howitzer on an American M3A5 Grant tank hull, and were converted by the Ordnance Factory in Bendigo from 1950 to 1952. The Yeramba was withdrawn from service in 1957 after becoming obsolete and remains the only self-propelled artillery introduced into service by the Australian Army
