1941-06. Northern Palestine. The pass that winds from the plain of Esdraelon up to the heights of Nazareth. An Australian Ford Marmon-Herrington artillery tractor, model LP3 or LP3A, towing a trailer, ammunition No. 27 MKI and a 25 pounder gun. Note E9, a sub-unit tactical marking, painted on the driver's door of the truck. There are two similar trucks further down the winding road. (Negative by F. Hurley)

Australians at Nazareth

North Nerang, Qld 21 July 1944. The Commander in Chief, Allied Land Forces, South West Pacific Area, General Sir Thomas Blamey, GBE, KCB, CMG, DSO, ED, inspecting an M3A5 General Grant tank of the 4th Armoured Brigade, which has been modified to allow it to operate in deep water.  The Jeep is surrounded by empty barrels forming a raft to float it across the river.

3-Ton Half-Tracked Ford (Australia) truck fitted with tracks from a Universal Carrier.  One of the many attempts to improve the movement of stores over mud roads or sand beaches.  Probably never put into production. Date unknown
