Mechanics use a block and tackle to remove the Wright Whirlwind nine cylinder aero engine from a General Grant M3 Medium tank in the 1st Australian Armoured Divisional Ordnance Workshops at Puckapunyal, Vic. 1942-06-20.

Mililat, New Guinea. 1944-09-12. Personnel of the Australian Electrical And Mechanical Engineers, 2/4th Armoured Regiment Workshops working on a recovery tank which they have built on a General Grant M3 Medium tank chassis. Identified personnel are: Sgt W. E. Drury; Craftsman R. W. Green; Craftsman G. J. Fletcher.

The Commander in Chief, Allied Land Forces, South West Pacific Area, General Sir Thomas Blamey, GBE, KCB, CMG, DSO, ED, inspecting an M3A5 General Grant tank of the 4th Armoured Brigade, which has been modified to allow it to operate in deep water.
