BULLDOZER, GENERAL GRANT III NO 1 MK 1. This project undertaken by Australian Army entailed the fitting of a La Plant Choate dozer equipment to an M3 Medium Grant (Diesel) tank.  After preliminary trials were conducted and proved satisfactory, an order was placed for manufacture. Owing to overall weight of this equipment, the M3 bogie assemblies were replaced by M4 (Sherman) bogies.

Mechanics use a block and tackle to remove the Wright Whirlwind nine cylinder aero engine from a General Grant M3 Medium tank in the 1st Australian Armoured Divisional Ordnance Workshops at Puckapunyal, Vic. 1942-06-20.
