In her Easter Bonnet – Navy Nurse Lieutenant (junior grade) Madge Overstreet of Tallahassee Florida sports a native straw hat acquired when she landed on Okinawa Yontan airstrip. Arriving at the field on a hospital transport plane just one week after the initial landings. Lieutenant Overstreet was the second American nurse to visit the island; April 8, 1945. 

Easter Bonnet

The American carrier-based torpedo bomber Grumman TBF-1 Avenger of torpedo squadron VT-5, takes off from the deck of the USS Yorktown (CV-10) aircraft carrier located in the Pacific Ocean. Note the hayrake antenna is visible on the underside of the starboard wing. They were mounted under both wings; April, 1944.
