An F4F  Wildcat.  The only fighter available to the USN during the early part of the Pacific War that could compete with the IJN A6m Zero.  Although replaced by the F6f Hellcat, the Wildcats were still produced until the end of the war and placed on escort carriers where the Hellcat was too large.
