 
Curtiss SB2C-5 Helldivers and Vought F4U Corairs of the 89th Bombardment Squadron are lined up on the flight deck of aircraft carrier USS Antietam (CV-36).
The ship was commissioned in January 1945, too late to actively serve in World War II. After serving a short time in the Far East, she was decommissioned in 1949.

Reconnaissance seaplane Vought OS2U-3 Kingfisher, flies over the USS Detroit CL-8, (Omaha-class light cruiser), from which it was catapulted, - in the area of the Aleutian Islands.

An American dive bomber SBD-5 "Dauntless" from the No. 22 Squadron (VC-22) landing with the arrestor hook extended. Since the end of 1943, No. 22 Squadron was based on the aircraft carrier USS Independence (CVL-22).
The SBD ("Scout Bomber Douglas") was the U.S. Navy's main carrier-borne scout plane and dive bomber from mid-1940 through mid-1944.
