From 1942 through the end of the war , squadron VT-88 never suffered a combat loss.
It was station on the fighting lady.
My dad was radioman and gunner.
The VT-88 squadron aviation log said he sunk the Oyodo.
I believe it also said the Iwata and Koriyama.
He also hit the electronics factory along with other air fields in Japan.
His favorite mission was dropping supplies to US prisoners in Japan. They painted the top of the barracks so the pilots knew where to drop the supplies

It was crews like this that terrified the Japanese.
One living Japanese woman told me they hated the Hell cats. They called them little Blue Birdies.

They would appear out of thin air and drop 500 lb. boms on them.
