This aircraft was designed for the US Navy and the blueprints for this airframe were delivered in 1939. Also known as the Zimmerman 'Flying Pancake' or the 'Flying Flapjack'. Flight testing wa s extensively undertaken during 1942 and 1943 resulting in reports of 'flying saucers' from surprised Connecticut residents.
