My uncle Reno Misantone of Lansford, PA, and his brother in law, my father Alfred A. Chickilly of Summit Hillt , PA. Taken circa 1945 after both returned home. Alfred was with the Marines in the Pacific. Reno fought with the Army in Europe.

Chester Nez,the last of 29 Navajo indians who developped the code-language that the Japanese would never be able to break,has died aged 93.The 29 were recruted in may 1942 by the US army.The idea was to devellop a code from their complex language for use on the battlefield.Chester was very proud of the fact that the Japanese tried everything but were unable to break the code.During the war some 400 Navajo indians  took part in the battles as CodeTalkers.Choctaw and Comanche indians were also employed .The US army kept the code secret untill the 1980ties for possible use in a new conflict.The Navajo recieved in 2001, the Gold Congressional Medal,the highest civil medal for their heroic actions.
