The sign bears the 83rd Thunderbolt Division triangle, and credits the 295th Engineer Battalion and the 992 Bridge Company with the construction. The bridge, which spanned the Elbe River, was named for the new President of the United States (Franklin Roosevelt had died four days earlier). A note on the background indicated that the censor was concerned about the location and safety of the pontoon bridge; Germany April 16, 1945.
