Aftermath

Soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division are engaged in a mopping-up operation in the small commune of Saint-Sauveaur-le-Vicomte, on the Cotentin peninsula, about 20 miles north-west of Saint-Lô, Normandy, France. On the left is a Canadian 6-pounder (57-mm) anti-tank gun; June, 1944. 

After skirmish activity

American soldiers of Company G, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, U.S. First Army, take refuge in doorways during mortar barrage laid down by Germans after the Americans seized a German forest stronghold camouflaged as a two-story residence. Wahlerscheid, at the German-Belgian border; December 16th 1944.
