American soldiers posing at firing an abandoned German 88.Actually firing the gun would need carefull examination of the gun first to see if it isn't rigged to fail and explode.Firing would also attract attention from opposing artillery.But I believe this to be a scene for the homefront,maybe not even frontline troops but second line soldiers in safe conditions.

I shot with an 88,darling

US troops from the 9th Army searching German civilians for identification in Krefeld, Germany, on the west bank of the Rhine river, about 10 kms. north-west of  Düsseldorf.
The city fell to the Americans on 3 March 1945.
