Bad Kissingen and its hospitals were surrendered April 6 to the 30th Regiment. The regiment's terms denied an open city so the army could make use of the accomodations. Several German officers and 2,825 soldier-patients became prisoners of war. texag57

Surrender of Bad Kissingen

Bad Kissingen, a resort town centered around ancient baths and the Frankiche Saale River, was used as a hospital town by the Germans and was spared bombing during WWII. On April 6, a 30th Regiment patrol met a delegation surrendering the city and its 28 large hotels converted to hospitals. texag57
