The photo is deceiving: the casual-victorious pose of the G.I. at the dragon's teeth of the "Westwall" does not show the general feelings of the American soldiers and their leaders. On the contrary, they had more fear than they should have had, a success of German propaganda. The bunkers and fortified positions were obsolescent and were partially used by farmers to store potatoes.
