Unusual Hurricane in Sardinia

346th FS

The Hawker Hurricane of USAAF’s 346th Fighter Squadron, 350th Fighter Group converted into a two-seater as a liaison plane when the Group were deployed in Sardinia, early 1944. The plane is the former RAF’s LB640 already employed as a target-tug for the 346th Fighter Squadron’s P-39 Airacobra. Two further Hurricanes were converted to two-seaters, flying with the 345th and 347th FSs, and operated for more than a year. Victor Sierra
