Gene Raymond (pictured during a brief leave) received an Air Forces commission in 1942, served with the 8th AAF in England, returned to instruct pilots.

In uniform before Pearl Harbor, Jackie Coogan transferred to the Air Force, won the Air Medal as a glider pilot in Burma, where he got this Japanese flag.  Jackie was a huge child star who discovered when he reached 21 and went to the bank that his parents had spent all of his life-long earnings.  A result of this was what became the "Coogan Law" which determines how child stars money is handled and kept in trust.  He also went on to star as "Uncle Fester" in the TV series, The Adams Family.
