The name given to the crude glass-like substance that was found to coat the whole surface of the immediate nuclear crater created by the "Trinity" test explosion. When it was bulldozed years later, it was found to be "mildly radioactive". At the time of this 'photo, I suspect that it must have been a lot "hotter". Rather the hand in the 'photo than mine ...
