Another shot of my Cousin Randall standing in front of his P-47 Thunderbolt. The captions were added by his friend, Iko, a Filipino, who saved them from being destroyed during a bombing raid by Japanese forces after Randall went missing in action. They were developed in Australia and mailed home to my aunt and uncle.

My cousin on the wing of a P-47 Thunderbolt on Cebu Island. Missing in action since June 16, 1944, after strafing a Japanese airfield, when he was hit by a flak burst. Presumed dead. No trace of the plane or him was ever found.

The final photograph we have of my Cousin Randall and his Filipino friend, taken on Cebu Island. Note the cigar Iko is smoking; Randall always smoked cigars and pipes.
