Soldiers from LCM on the left (Landing Craft Mechanized) upload food (Ration 10-1) supplies to (Landing Craft Infantry Large) LCI (L) - 87 and 96, to be taken to the fighting men on Omaha and Utah Beaches. The Ration 10-1 was developed in order to provide power to the crews of armored vehicles and motorized infantry. It was designed for daily meals of 10 soldiers, and it was supposed to be a breakfast, an afternoon snack and dinner. The ration included: various canned meat and stews, butter, powdered coffee, puddings, jam, condensed milk, vegetables, biscuits, cereals, drinks, sweets, salt and sugar. In addition, the kit included cigarettes, matches, a bottle opener, toilet paper, soap, towels.
