Advancing was not always difficult because of enemy action.In many cases the enthousiast civilians made  passing of vehicles difficult for the troops and dangerous for themselves.The soldiers appreciated the food,drink etc passed over to them.Many a soldier got a hug or kiss from the local beauties and granny's :)
